Profitable performance and humane care are inseparable in livestock production. Few understand this better than livestock producers, market operators, packers, processors, agribusiness and others who have contributed to the world’s most successful and progressive industry in animal agriculture. Indeed, our capacity to supply an abundance of safe, high quality food at the lowest cost anywhere is the envy of the world. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that many of today’s consumers might question how this may be accomplished without jeopardizing the health and welfare of food producing animals. This conference is designed to address these issues and help those in animal agriculture better understand the concerns of consumers relative to animal welfare and profitable production.

Internationally recognized speakers including Dr. Temple Grandin (Grandin Livestock Systems), Dr. Gary Weber (NCAA, Director of Regulatory Affairs), and Dr. James Reynolds (AABP Animal Welfare Committee Chair) will provide practical insight from several perspectives on these emerging issues. In addition, there will be a special half-day session devoted to indications for, and application of, procedures for conducting euthanasia of livestock when veterinary assistance is unavailable.

Interested persons will have the option to receive a “Certificate of Successful Completion” following their participation in the course and laboratory on euthanasia.
