Spotlight on New Faculty: Dr. Jonathan Cowart

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of new faculty member Dr. Jonathan Cowart in the Aquatic Animal Health Service.

Jonathan R. Cowart, BS, PhD, PDRA – Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Jonathan “JC” Cowart, Research Assistant Professor in Aquatic Animal Health, earned his B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, NC, and a PhD from University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. His research focuses on assessing the reproductive physiology and health of marine mammals with a particular focus on Florida manatees and bottlenose dolphins. Dr. Cowart also provides histological services to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission that supports diagnostic histopathology for discerning cause of death of manatees around the state of Florida.
