The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is pleased to announce the addition of new faculty member, Dr. Luis de Aguiar, within the Reproduction Service.

Luís de Aguiar, Med. Vet, MS, PhD, ACT – Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Luís de Aguiar, Clinical Associate Professor in Comparative Theriogenology, is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists. He earned his Veterinary Medicine Degree from Santa Catarina State University in Lages, SC- Brazil, and a PhD in Livestock and Agriculture Biotechnology from Ceara State University in Fortaleza, CE- Brazil. Dr. de Aguiar also completed a combined Therigenology Residency and Master’s Degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His experience includes production of embryos by in-vitro fertilization and cloning in domestic and non-domestic species, culture of ovarian stem cells and pre-antral follicles, gamete cryopreservation, and sperm physiology. His clinical and research interests include: assisted reproductive technologies, embryology, and animal conservation. In his spare time, Dr. de Aguiar enjoys playing guitar, practicing martial arts, biking, and hiking. Dr. de Aguiar can be reached by e-mail at luisdeaguiar@ufl.edu.
