The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is pleased to announce the addition of new FARMS faculty member Dr. Pedro Monteiro.
Pedro L. J. Monteiro, BVM, PhD, MS, MBA – Assistant Professor
Dr. Pedro Monteiro, Assistant Professor in FARMS, earned his bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernaubuco, Brazil, his PhD in Animal Science at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, his M.S. in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernaubuco, Brazil, and his M.B.A. in Agribusiness at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He also completed a residency program in the Cattle Clinic of Garanhuns at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Brazil. His research focuses on biology and biotechnology of reproduction to increase the reproductive performance in beef and dairy cattle, the effects of stress on incidence of disease and reproductive outcomes, and the physiological mechanism regulating the parturition in cattle. In his spare time, Dr. Monteiro enjoys riding bicycles and playing sports with his three children. Dr. Monteiro can be reached by e-mail at pljmonteiro@ufl.edu.
